Speaker Series

Join us on Thursday, May 17, for Matt's most popular talk! There is nothing more important than the relationship between your customers and your brand.

Click here for a sneak peek!

This talk is a fun look at marketing and branding that uses personal examples from the game of love to help you woo and keep customers. Helping a company's brand to worm its way into a consumer's heart is a lot like trying to woo a member of the opposite sex. Harlow will roll a career's worth of marketing (and even longer chasing women) into a one-hour talk that will help marketers make consumers love their brands as much as a suitor wants to be loved himself.

Matt Harlow has choked down more than his share of chicken dinners. He's been involved in the American Advertising Federation at the college, local, district and national levels and attended professional lunch meetings, events and trade shows all over the country.

At all these meetings he learned a lot about marketing but he also learned what it takes to be a great speaker. He strives to make all his talks fast paced, fun and informative. Every attendee leaves with valuable take home that they can put to work right away, but until after they've had a few laughs.

Matt Harlow's day job is as the director of account service at Perry Ballard Incorporated. He has spent his entire professional life helping companies project the best possible brands to their prospects and live up to their brands for their customers.

One nonrenewable scholarship in the amount of $500 will be awarded to the student deemed most deserving based on merit, not financial need. A check will be issued to the student's college or university to apply toward tuition, books, etc.

Student Ambassador Program

AAF Dubuque is gearing up to recruit Student Ambassadors from your college or university!

AAF Dubuque is searching for a student representative from each of the local colleges (Clarke University, Loras College, University of Dubuque, Northeast Iowa Community College, and University of Wisconsin-Platteville) to be an on-campus ambassador for AAF Dubuque. Student Ambassadors are nominated by a faculty member at each school and final approval will come from the AAF Dubuque Board of Directors.

This person should be someone who is responsible, can take on a leadership role, is able to guide and inform fellow students of AAF Dubuque news/events effectively and in a timely manner, and will voice any issues/comments/suggestions of other students. We are looking for sophomore/junior students in particular. If you have any suggested candidates, please contact Erin Sell by June 29th. This is our second year of this program and we hope to find a dynamic group of students to help represent AAF!

President's Message
Seriously...where has the year gone? It is hard to believe that I am writing my final letter as outgoing President of AAF Dubuque. It has been an exciting year for me personally and professionally, and I am happy to have served as your President. We had a great year and I cannot say enough wonderful things about the people who have served on the AAF Dubuque Board of Directors. Their time, talents and dedication to this club are unmatched. I have learned something from each and every board member and am inspired by their enthusiasm. Thank you all for such an awesome year! To those who are stepping off the board, we thank you for your service and wish you continued success. Special congratulations to Ryan Brown, who will now be serving at the AAF District 9 level. To those who are joining us this year, get ready to meet and network with some amazing people who will undoubtedly become life-long friends. It will be an exciting year as Shannon Murphy takes the reins and leads this club into further success.

To our members, thank you! You know the value of membership and we appreciate your active participation. Please consider serving on one of the various committees that keep this organization relevant and vital. The talents you lend to AAF Dubuque will strengthen the advertising and marketing community. You and your peers are what make AAF Dubuque and AAF the Unifying Voice for Advertising.

A special thanks to all of the businesses and organizations that support AAF Dubuque. I would like to personally thank Premier Bank for their support and encouragement of my service to the AAF Dubuque Board of Directors.
